LUKE JOHNSON
Luke’s passion for aviation started almost as soon as he could walk. As a child, he was fascinated by aircraft. What began as childhood fascination grew into a lifelong passion for aviation, flight, technology and performance.
That passion evolved into radio controlled aircraft, fixed wing aviation and eventually a career in flying, earning his commercial pilot licence and working as a flight instructor. At the same time, Luke became deeply involved in the emerging world of drone technology and competitive FPV racing, culminating in competing at the 2016 Drone FPV World Championships in Hawaii.
The drone Luke raced was designed and built entirely by him, including the carbon fibre fabrication, completed in his garage. That reflects the way he approaches technology. He doesn’t just fly it or sell it. He works to understand it, build it, test it, refine it and push what it can do.
Over the years, Luke played a key role in building the DJI Enterprise market in New Zealand, supporting awareness, education, adoption and practical understanding of enterprise drone solutions across the country.
Luke understands drones from the inside out, but his value is not only technical. He knows how to match the right equipment to the right application, identify where drone technology will create real operational value, and help organisations avoid costly mistakes.
Aero IQ was built from that passion, experience and knowledge. Its purpose is to give organisations honest guidance, practical expertise and the confidence to use drone technology safely, effectively and independently.
Luke’s approach is practical, direct and capability focused. The goal is not simply to put drones into organisations. It is to help teams understand what is possible, make better decisions and build drone programmes that work in the real world.

Zane Gibbs
Zane’s interest in drone technology took shape while studying Computer Systems Engineering at the University of Auckland. As part of his studies, he led a nano scale quadcopter coordination project, the university’s first drone based undergraduate project.
The project went on to win the university’s annual engineering competition. More than an academic achievement, it gave Zane an early look at what drone technology could become and sparked an interest in the way complex systems, technology and real world applications could come together.
Before moving into the drone industry, Zane spent around five years working in real estate. That experience shaped the way he works with people. He learned to listen, understand what a client is trying to achieve and provide a high level of service throughout the process.
Over the past five years, Zane has built strong experience across the commercial drone industry, working with organisations in surveying, construction, infrastructure, environmental monitoring and emergency services.
During that time, he developed capability in photogrammetry, geospatial workflows and commercial drone technology. His engineering background gives him a structured approach to problem solving and a strong understanding of how technology can be integrated into wider operations.
Zane combines that technical knowledge with a genuine focus on the client. He asks the right questions, communicates clearly and provides honest advice, helping organisations make informed decisions and avoid investing in technology that does not fit their needs.
His background in computer systems and programming continues to influence the way he approaches new and emerging drone technology. He is particularly drawn to the opportunity to improve workflows, make better use of data and create more efficient, repeatable ways of working.
At AeroIQ, Zane brings together engineering, technical capability and a strong service focus. His goal is to help organisations use drone technology in a way that is practical, well considered and delivers real value.
