Zenmuse S1

The DJI Zenmuse S1 is a professional aerial spotlight designed for DJI's multi-payload enterprise drone platforms. Using LEP lighting technology, it delivers powerful, long-range illumination from a three-axis stabilised gimbal, allowing operators to light up infrastructure, assets, work areas and other points of interest from the air while maintaining a safe operating distance.

Three lighting modes allow the beam to be adapted to different tasks. Low Beam provides wider, more even coverage for closer inspection and general area lighting, while High Beam concentrates the output into a narrower beam for longer-range observation. Both On combines the two, providing broader coverage with stronger central illumination and an effective lighting distance of up to 500 metres under DJI's stated conditions.

When paired with the Zenmuse H30 Series on the DJI Matrice 400, intelligent beam alignment synchronises the S1 gimbal with the camera payload so the spotlight automatically follows the camera's field of view. This creates a particularly capable solution for night-time infrastructure and asset inspection where operators need both long-range imaging and controllable illumination from the same aircraft.

Powerful Aerial Illumination

• Up to 40 Lux at 100 m: When installed on the Matrice 400 and operating in Both On mode, the S1 provides maximum central illuminance of 40 lux at 100 metres under DJI's specified test conditions.
• Up to 500 m Effective Illumination Distance: Both On mode provides an effective illumination distance of up to 500 metres, extending the practical range available for night-time observation and inspection.
• LEP Lighting Technology: High-intensity LEP illumination provides strong light output in a compact aerial payload designed for professional enterprise drone operations.
• Adjustable Brightness: Operators can vary the spotlight output to suit different distances, environments and inspection requirements.
• 5 Hz Strobe Mode: A built-in strobe function provides an additional signalling and identification option for appropriate operational scenarios.

Three Lighting Modes

• Low Beam Mode: Provides a wide 15° illumination angle and an approximately 544 m² illuminated area at 100 m, making it well suited to general ground lighting, closer inspection and broader-area observation.
• High Beam Mode: Concentrates illumination into a narrower 4° beam, covering approximately 38 m² at 100 m for longer-range and more targeted observation.
• Both On Mode: Combines the wide coverage of Low Beam with the stronger central output of High Beam, providing maximum illumination and extended operating range.
• Camera-Matched Illumination: Low Beam closely matches the field of view of H20 and H30 Series cameras at approximately 5× zoom and above, while High Beam is designed around longer-range viewing at approximately 15× zoom and above.

Intelligent Beam Alignment

• H30 Series Synchronisation: When the Zenmuse S1 and H30 Series are mounted on a Matrice 400, gimbal synchronisation automatically aligns the spotlight with the camera view.
• Simplified Night Inspection: Rather than manually controlling both payloads independently, operators can direct the camera towards an asset and have the spotlight follow the same area of interest.
• Long-Range Visual Support: Pairing the S1 with the H30 or H30T provides additional illumination for zoom-camera inspections where ambient lighting is insufficient.
• Multi-Payload Matrice 400 Workflow: The Matrice 400's flexible payload architecture allows the S1 to operate alongside imaging payloads, giving inspection teams illumination and data capture within the same aircraft configuration. DJI confirms the S1 can be installed on any compatible Matrice 400 gimbal connector.

Multi-Spotlight and Gimbal Control

• Dual S1 Operation: Two Zenmuse S1 spotlights can be installed on the Matrice 400 and controlled simultaneously for applications requiring additional illumination.
• Three-Axis Stabilised Gimbal: Tilt, roll and pan stabilisation keep the light directed towards the intended area while the aircraft manoeuvres.
• Wide Gimbal Movement: The S1 provides a controllable tilt range from -120° to +60° and pan movement of ±320°, allowing illumination to be directed across a broad working area.
• Customisable Controller Inputs: Remote controller buttons can be assigned to switch the spotlight on or off, adjust brightness or change lighting modes.
• Follow, Free and Re-Centre Modes: Multiple gimbal operating modes allow the spotlight behaviour to be adapted to different flight and inspection workflows.

Built for Professional Field Operations

• IP54 Protection: The Zenmuse S1 carries an IP54 rating under controlled laboratory conditions, supporting professional outdoor operations.
• Integrated Protection Systems: Temperature, overcurrent and power protection help protect the LED and LEP lighting system during operation.
• Automatic Eye Protection: When the aircraft is not in flight, brightness is automatically limited to 40% to reduce exposure to the high-intensity light source.
• IEC 62471 Risk Group 1: The S1 is classified as Risk Group 1 under the IEC 62471 photobiological safety standard.
• DJI SKYPORT Mount: A detachable DJI SKYPORT interface allows the spotlight to be installed on compatible DJI Enterprise aircraft.
• 760 g Payload Weight: The S1 weighs approximately 760 ± 10 g, integrating the lighting system and stabilised gimbal into a single aerial payload.

DJI FlightHub 2 Integration

The Zenmuse S1 is supported within the DJI FlightHub 2 ecosystem, allowing it to form part of wider DJI Enterprise fleet and remote-operation workflows alongside compatible aircraft and camera payloads. This can be particularly useful for organisations managing inspection, monitoring or public-safety operations across multiple sites or aircraft.

Compatible DJI Aircraft

The DJI Zenmuse S1 is compatible with the DJI Matrice 400, Matrice 350 RTK and Matrice 300 RTK, with the Matrice 300 RTK and Matrice 350 RTK requiring DJI RC Plus for S1 operation. The spotlight can be mounted to any compatible gimbal connector on these aircraft platforms.

The DJI Matrice 400 offers the most capable S1 configuration, providing maximum central illuminance of 40 lux at 100 m and supporting intelligent beam alignment with the Zenmuse H30 Series. The Matrice 400 can also operate two S1 spotlights simultaneously where additional illumination is required.
