Overview
About this product.
The DJI Matrice 400 L3 Combo brings together DJI's flagship enterprise aircraft and its next-generation long-range LiDAR payload in a package designed for demanding surveying and geospatial workflows. The Matrice 400 combines extended flight endurance, a maximum payload capacity of 6 kg, advanced obstacle sensing and IP55 protection, providing a capable platform for efficient data collection across large, complex and remote sites.
This combo includes the core Matrice 400 package together with the DJI Zenmuse L3 and two additional batteries, providing three aircraft batteries in total. The combination is particularly suited to organisations looking for a dedicated LiDAR solution for topographic surveying, corridor mapping, forestry, infrastructure, powerlines, construction and other projects where efficient capture across large or difficult terrain is important.
Zenmuse L3
The DJI Zenmuse L3 is a long-range, high-accuracy aerial LiDAR payload designed specifically for the Matrice 400. It combines a 1535 nm LiDAR system, dual 100MP RGB mapping cameras, a high-precision position and orientation system and three-axis gimbal in a single integrated payload, providing LiDAR and high-resolution imagery within the same aerial data-capture workflow.
Its LiDAR can detect 10% reflectivity targets at distances of up to 950 metres under DJI's stated test conditions, allowing data to be collected from greater operating distances while maintaining detailed point-cloud coverage. The dual RGB mapping cameras capture high-resolution colour imagery alongside the LiDAR data, while the integrated POS system provides the positioning and orientation information required for accurate geospatial outputs.
For high-productivity survey programmes, DJI rates the Zenmuse L3 for daily coverage of up to 100 km² under its specified operating conditions. Combined with the Matrice 400's long-endurance performance, the system is designed to reduce the number of flights required across large sites while capturing detailed point clouds and mapping imagery in a single integrated workflow.
Flexible Payload Compatibility
While the Matrice 400 L3 Combo is supplied with the Zenmuse L3, the aircraft remains a flexible multi-payload platform and can be reconfigured as operational requirements change. Compatible options include the Zenmuse P1 for photogrammetry, Zenmuse H30 Series for detailed visual and thermal inspection, as well as the Zenmuse S1 Spotlight, V1 Speaker, Manifold 3 and supported third-party payloads. This allows the same Matrice 400 aircraft to support surveying, mapping, inspection, asset management and other enterprise workflows beyond its primary L3 configuration.
LiDAR Surveying and Mapping
- 1535 nm Long-Range LiDAR: Capture LiDAR data at extended ranges, with detection of 10% reflectivity targets at up to 950 m under DJI's stated test conditions.
- Dual 100MP RGB Mapping Cameras: Two 4/3 CMOS mapping cameras capture high-resolution colour imagery alongside LiDAR data, with a combined horizontal field of view of 107°.
- High-Precision Point Clouds: DJI specifies point-cloud system accuracy at 120 m of 3 cm vertical and 4 cm horizontal RMSE, increasing to 5 cm vertical and 7.5 cm horizontal RMSE at 300 m under its stated test conditions.
- High-Precision POS System: Integrated positioning and orientation data supports RTK positioning accuracy of 1.0 cm + 1 ppm horizontally and 1.5 cm + 1 ppm vertically.
- Multiple LiDAR Returns: Support for up to 16 returns at selected pulse frequencies improves the ability to capture multiple surfaces within a single laser pulse path, supporting applications such as forestry and vegetation mapping.
- Flexible Scanning Modes: Linear, star-shaped and non-repetitive scanning modes provide different collection patterns for varying terrain, vegetation and infrastructure-mapping requirements.
- Large-Area Productivity: DJI rates the L3 for coverage of up to 100 km² per day under its specified conditions, supporting efficient collection across large survey areas.
- Integrated DJI Workflow: Data can be collected through DJI Pilot 2, processed in DJI Terra, worked with in DJI Modify and incorporated into DJI FlightHub 2 workflows.
Flight Performance and Challenging Environments
- Long-Endurance Flight Performance: The Matrice 400 is designed for extended missions, helping larger survey areas and longer corridors be captured with fewer interruptions.
- Up to 6 kg Payload Capacity: The Matrice 400 provides substantial payload capacity and a flexible mounting architecture for demanding enterprise operations.
- IP55 Protection: Dust and water resistance supports operation in demanding outdoor environments, with the aircraft designed for temperatures from -20°C to 50°C.
- Power-Line-Level Obstacle Sensing: Rotating LiDAR, high-precision mmWave radar and low-light fisheye vision help the aircraft identify small obstacles, including powerlines, in challenging terrain and lighting conditions.
- Aircraft Fusion Positioning: LiDAR, radar and vision sensing work together to provide omnidirectional sensing and stable positioning around challenging surfaces and structures.
- Full-Colour Vision Assist: Four low-light fisheye sensors provide additional visual awareness for safer flight in reduced-light environments.
Video Transmission and Connectivity
- O4 Enterprise Enhanced Transmission: The aircraft's ten-antenna system and high-gain phased-array controller antenna provide long-range image transmission for operations across large and remote sites.
- Enhanced Cellular Connectivity: Two optional DJI Cellular Dongle 2 units can allow the system to select the stronger available carrier network, improving connection stability where cellular coverage varies.
- Airborne Relay: One Matrice 400 can operate as an airborne relay for another aircraft, extending transmission coverage in mountainous terrain and other obstructed environments.
Intelligent Mapping and Automated Operations
- Power Line Follow with Zenmuse L3: When equipped with the L3 using the dedicated L3 single-gimbal connector, the Matrice 400 can automatically follow transmission and distribution lines while its onboard rotating LiDAR detects crossing obstacles in real time.
- Real-Time Terrain Follow: Maintain a stable relative height above changing ground elevation during manual or automated flights, helping maintain consistent data capture across variable terrain.
- Slope and Geometric Routes: DJI Pilot 2 and FlightHub 2 support automated routes for slopes, façades, inclined surfaces, buildings and structures, expanding the types of high-precision survey missions that can be planned.
- Live Annotations: Mark points, measure distances and calculate areas directly from the controller, with results able to be synchronised to DJI FlightHub 2.
- Power Line AR: Wire obstacles detected by the aircraft can be represented as AR lines on the controller display, improving awareness around power infrastructure.
- AR Flight Waypoint: Preview the aircraft's planned route during Return-to-Home, obstacle sensing and FlyTo operations to provide greater visibility of the intended flight path.
